Remember “ghosting”, “breadcrumbing” and “benching”?
Well there’s a new trend in town that’s got everyone talking: “orbiting”.
First coined by The Man Repeller, orbiting is basically the new term for the phenomenon of people viewing your Instagram story or liking your pictures on social media without actually ever talking to you in person or reaching out. A bit like the moon orbiting the Earth, the person stays just within your sphere of influence but stays far enough away that they never have to communicate with you.
But why do they do it? Here are some possible reasons:
They miss you, but are afraid to reach out
